Floral But Fantastic Fentimans

Most people struggle with rose flavoured things and I can understand why. In fact I had one of these and let my other half take a sip and he was not impressed and it caused me to describe it in a way akin to marmite because you truly do love or hate it. I cannot think of anybody that is ambivalent to rose.

For me this just tastes like rose turkish delight. I don’t mean that gooey thick turkish delight coated in chocolate but instead the ones that usually come as little cubes and are either pink and rose flavoured or a pale yellow and lemon flavoured.

And on a summers day this really works as a refreshing flavour. It works amazingly by itself but if you pair it with something like prosecco as they champion on their own website then it transforms into something else completely magical.

It isn’t just rose as otherwise it would just be a carbonated rose drink but instead it is just a few drops of rose oil from roses in a valley in Bulgaria splashed and carefully mixed through with lemon, pear and ginger extracts as well to give it a balanced flavour that rounds off with the rose and a smooth mouth feel thanks to the carbonated water and a small amount of sugar too.

I love a lot of Fentimans products in general as things that still come in glass bottles bring me far more joy. I’ll always remember my great grandma used to make her own dandelion and burdock and put them into old coca cola bottles and in my head I think I’ll be that person one day but instead these just make their way to where millions of other glass bottles do a year to a new home with a new purpose in a completely different form.

How do you feel about floral products and especially in your drinks? I know I’m not the biggest fan of lavender flavoured things!
