Flavour-Packed Five Spice Salmon

Ingredients (For One)

  • Rice
  • 1tbsp Chilli Flakes
  • 1/2tbsp Paprika
  • 1/2tsp Salt
  • 1tbsp Five Spice
  • Two Small Salmon Fillets
  • One Small Pak Choi
  • 2-3 Medium Garlic Cloves, Sliced
  • Oil

Method

  1. Get some rice cooking
  2. Mix the chilli flakes, paprika, salt and five spice into a small bowl
  3. Brush some oil onto salmon fillets before adding the seasoning blend and put it into a pre-heated pan
  4. Whilst the salmon cooks wash and break up a pak choi
  5. Once the salmon is cooked remove it to a plate and cover with foil
  6. Place the pak choi into the pan with a dash of water and the garlic
  7. Turn the pak choi over a few times, whilst it softens, before serving it with the rice and salmon

Eating And Storage tips

This is an absolutely fantastic meal to make more of for leftovers; I find it works incredibly well if you then break the salmon up and mix it all up together before reheating it. I would suggest reheating the salmon and rice first and then adding the pak choi in afterwards as otherwise it’s sure to overcook!

If you have extra time I would suggest mixing some oil into the spices and coat the salmon in it for a couple of hours before it’s time to cook as this will help permeate the flavours more into the salmon.

If you don’t want, or can’t get pak choi, then something like broccoli, mangetout or baby corn would all work fantastically well with the garlic as well.
