This is the perfect handheld burger to make if you’re after slightly less bread but don’t want to abandon it completely.
Ingredients (For One Wrap)
- 1tsp Black Pepper
- 1tbsp Mixed Herbs
- 1/2tbsp Garlic Granules
- 1tsp Wholegrain Mustard
- 1/2tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 175g Beef Mince
- Tortilla Wrap
- Salad Leaves Of Preference
- 40g Cheddar Cheese, Sliced
- Sauce Of Preference
- Oil For Frying
Method
- Put black pepper, mixed herbs, garlic granules, wholegrain mustard and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl
- Add in the beef mince and mix it all together, turning it into a patty with your hands, and put it in the fridge for about five minutes
- Heat some oil in a fry pan
- Meanwhile take a wrap and slice from one edge to the middle. Add salad to one quarter, sauce of your choice to the uncut half and about half the cheese to the remaining quarter
- Cook your burger and when you flip it over add some cheese and cover with a lid or a heat friendly item to help the cheese melt whilst the burger finishes
- Place the burger on the cheese quarter of the wrap and fold that towards the sauce, over to the sauce again and then to the salad quarter
Eating And Storage Tips
If you just want to put these in regular bread or maybe even a soft squishy brioche bun then there’s absolutely nothing to stop you from doing that. I opted to put it in a wrap as the wholemeal wraps I get are usually lower in calories than a lot of really good bread/burger buns that I tend to enjoy and there’s something about being able to fold it all up and keep all that juice from the burger together.
And you absolutely know that you can put this mixture into the fridge for longer or you can even make up extra and put more patties into the freezer as well so that you have them ready to defrost whenever the fancy takes you. You can also make more of the mixture up and turn it into meatballs if you wanted to as well.
I’ve gone for cheddar cheese but you can absolutely use whatever cheese you have in the fridge or treat yourself to something like some blue cheese if that’s something you enjoy. For salad I went for an iceberg blend but again if you want a more rocket based, dark green, one then absolutely go for it. As for sauce I had some bacon mayo and low-fat mayo that I wanted to use up so opted for those but you can use whatever sauces you enjoy in a burger. Or talking of bacon mayo you could even put actual bacon in here too just consider that the more you put in the harder it will be to fold!
