Quick And Easy Cheesy bread Roll Pizza

I wanted to make something representing pizzas with regular bread rolls instead. Why? I live alone and shop on a budget so when I wanted to make burgers that meant buying a pack of multiple buns so wanted to incorporate them into another meal. Here’s how you can make them too.

Ingredients

  • Cheese Topped Bread Rolls
  • Tomato Puree
  • Grated Cheese
  • Pepperoni Slices (Or Salami), Torn Or Cut Up
  • (See Eating And Storage Tips For alternatives)

Method

  1. Half and open up your bread rolls
  2. Smear a decent amount of tomato puree on the “inside” bits of the roll
  3. Sprinkle on grated cheese
  4. Place on the pepperoni slice pieces to help make sure you’ll get a bit with every bite
  5. Put into a preheated oven at 180c for 5-7 minutes

Eating And Storage Tips

These are fantastic to increase the quantities of as well and put onto multiple trays into the oven at once. With that you can mix up the toppings and bread type to meet everybody’s preference. And it’s so simple that if you happen to be wanting to do something fun with children you can absolutely get them involved too.

You can absolutely mix these toppings up; If you have something like leftover deli meat you can add that, maybe even some pineapple too, or you can make it vegetarian with finely cut bell pepper and slices of fresh tomato too. I enjoy putting leftover chicken or bacon on them. And of course, use whatever strength or type of cheese you might already have rather than going out to get mozzarella or a cheese blend specifically for this dish.

These are super quick and simple to put together and whilst I put them in the oven you can absolutely put them into an airfryer instead; Go for a similar amount of cooking time and temperature but don’t worry about preheating it. If you’re doing a small amount this absolutely makes sense and will save you a few pennies on the electric.

If you don’t have any tomato puree then you can use some tomato ketchup instead, just perhaps add in a little extra seasoning for more depth of flavour too, or you can use an alternative condiment sauce. If you have some dying pesto, leftover cheese sauce or even a really thick homemade soup like a butternut squash soup then you could carefully spread those on just consider the amount to if it risks making the bread go soggy.

You can also make these up in advance and they can always go cold and you can eat them that way; Much like you would a cold pizza. This could be the lovely little pick me up for a midweek meal take to work lunch or as a little treat for a child’s packed lunch as well without giving them actual pizza.
