Is The Viral Kebab Actually Any Good?

Ingredients (Serves One)

  • 125g Pork Mince
  • 2tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 2tbsp Mixed herbs
  • 1tbsp black pepper
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 1/4 Onion

Method

  1. Place the mince, smoked paprika, mixed herbs, black pepper, salt, garlic and onion into a blender and mix together
  2. Place it onto some baking paper and smooth out until thin. If you have a rolling pin top it with baking paper and roll away
  3. Roll the bottom layer of baking paper with the meat mixture on it up, fairly tigtly, and place it into a 200c oven for about 20 minutes
  4. Remove the paper, returning the meat to the baking tray and cook for another five
  5. Cut to fit your needs and serve

Eating And Storage Tips

You can see from the below video what I did on my first attempt. It worked out well texture and structure wise but it needed a bit more oomph flavour wise so the above recipe is more what I would do, in terms of increasing amounts, and have done since.

I used pretty lean pork mince but you could use a blend with beef, just beef, lamb or chicken/turkey mince too. Basically, whatever you have then go ahead and use it.

When flavoured and put the right stuff, such as with a bit of garlic mayo or chilli sauce, this can absolutely be eaten cold as leftovers the following day. Just be sure to put the meat in a well sealed container in the fridge. It would take up a lot of room but you could also prepare this in a way that lets it soak up some of those flavours and place it rolled out in the bottom of the fridge until you’re ready to cook it. You could probably freeze it too but I’m not sure how you would put such long folded rolls into the freezer without them being in the way.

It will also work pretty well reheated in the microwave too as the steam will stop it from drying up and crumbling too much but you could reheat strips of it in a frying pan if you wanted too. Just obviously hold putting it in the bread or with salad until you’re ready to eat!
