Simple But Substantial Sized Lidl Spring Rolls

I got these Chef Select six large vegetable spring rolls in Lidl recently. They are located in the freezer section and, at the time of writing, £1.99 for the box. I wanted something quick, simple and with a bit of crunch.

These come in at just over 100 calories a piece and have a variety of vegetables in there but not a lot of anything saucy. I put a little sauce on the side of mine for dipping and that really helped to give them a little extra, especially as they seemed to be lacking a lot of seasoning in general.

The filo pastry itself was pretty good and not too dry or too greasy either. It crisped up and gave a nice satisfying little crunch. I did mine in the oven but they do also have the airfryer instructions for these which would reduce the cooking time.

When I battled into the box and then into their protective plastic packaging I was impressed by the size of them but I will admit I was worried about how they didn’t look evenly coated to if that would cause any of them to explode the filling out during the cooking. Luckily, that didn’t happen.

These were okay. I probably wouldn’t get them again but they have got me thinking about making my own again, which is something I haven’t done for many years, and I might have to revisit this recipe I did on my old blog and share an updated one with you all here too.

I can see the appeal of grabbing a few boxes of these if you are doing a little Christmas party platter or buffet or something but I do think that there are far better frozen and premade ones out there at probably not too much of a different price point. Your guests would eat them but most certainly not be wowed.
