Succulent And Savoury Soy Sauce Salmon

Ingredients

  • Salmon Fillet
  • Soy Sauce, Light And Dark Or Just Dark
  • Hot Honey
  • Ginger, I Used Lazy
  • Chilli Flakes
  • Black Pepper
  • Garlic Granules
  • Onion Granules
  • Spring Onions, Sliced
  • Chestnut Mushrooms, Sliced
  • (Rice And Broccoli To Serve)

Method

  1. Place your salmon, soy sauce, hot honey, ginger, chilli flakes, black pepper, garlic and onion granules, spring onion and chestnuts into a container with a lid before placing the lid on and giving it all a big shake through
  2. Leave in the fridge for 15-30 minutes for maximum flavour but you can also just leave it a couple of minutes on the side
  3. Start cooking rice if you’re having that here
  4. Heat up a pan with a dash of oil. I used sesame oil. Place the salmon and all the sauce and other ingredients into the pan and cook on a high heat
  5. One the salmon is starting to cook, I do it skin side down to start, I then flip it over and at this stage also add my broccoli into the pan to pan fry and get some of those sauces around it too
  6. Once the rice is cooked drain that and serve alongside the salmon and broccoli

Eating And Storage Tips

A lot of salmon pieces in the supermarkets come as packs of two and if you’re like me you don’t want to leave one uncooked piece sitting in the fridge for a full day. So instead I made up two pieces of salmon and set that aside after cooking to leave to cool and place in the fridge for the following day. In fact; I had it for breakfast the next day alongside some fried eggs. But if you want to make extra rice up you could do yourself some leftover salmon fried rice too!

Doing it the method I did does prevent the salmon skin from crisping up. If you want to have a really crispy skin you might want to remove it before soaking it or cook it in a pan by itself skin side down before adding the sauce in when you turn the salmon over.

I did this with broccoli and rice but you could easily do this with something like cucumber and carrot ribbons in a quick pickle, certain noodle dishes or even with something like cous cous or a pasta too.
