Braemoor Crispy Rice Chicken Burgers

These Braemoor Red Hen crispy rice coated chicken quarter pounder burgers came in at £1.69 for a box of two on October 4th 2025 so I decided to pick them up and try them out.

I absolutely love a chicken burger and figured these might have a nice bit of texture to them. In fact as I picked them up and put them in my trolley my Mum looked over and asked what they were and promptly grabbed them for her own trolley so her and her partner ended up trying them out too.

These can also be done in the airfryer and have adjusted cooking time and temperature instructions included on the packaging; This is of course becoming more common but it is something I will always greatly appreciate them taking the time to do for the ease of consumers.

I will say that my only real disappointment about these chicken burgers is that the crispy rice coating on the packaging looks really puffed up and each grain fairly distinct. I wasn’t expecting it to look quite like that but I did think that perhaps they would pop out and puff up a little more during the cooking. Alas they did not. But luckily this coating did remain incredibly crispy and give the burger a nice little crunch which came as a nice textural contrast to the naturally softer chicken filling.

The ratio of chicken to coating was pretty much spot on as well and you definitely felt like you were primarily chomping into a chicken burger. The chicken itself, of course more like a reformed patty, was still moist and had a decent amount of flavour too.

As I cooked it I did find something resembling grease coming out of it and into the bottom of the airfryer but on eating one they didn’t feel greasy at all. If you cooked these flat on an oven try or without the raising shelf in your airfryer there is a chance though that this moisture would impact the overall crispy and crunchy effect of this coating.

I am pleased to say that I would recommend getting these chicken burgers and as they are from the freezer section they make great to have around as an emergency quick, simple and comforting meal one evening without letting the takeaway or fast food cravings tempt you to the expensive dark side.
