We all have different needs and wants for what would make for a better quality of life change to a video game. Some small, some big and some probably a bit weird to others. Here are mine for Final Fantasy XIV based on my time so far playing as Bhridean Battousai.
- Turning off specific system messages like “entering sanctuary”. This doesn’t bother me most of the time but have you ever flown around Northern Thanalan for hours booping B ranks? You have to go through a sanctuary to get from one half of the map to the other. That is a lot of those messages. I know we can turn off things like seeing our own and others crafting completion but if we could pick and choose a few more specific things it would be wonderful.
- Being able to auto switch job when your roulette or party finder queue pops. If I’m going to be spending 30 minutes waiting for something to pop then I want to use my time productively and whether that’s crafting, gathering or doing quests on another job then I will. But the issue is when the queue pops, say mid craft, you have to wait to finish the craft, stand up, switch back to that original job and then hit to step inside within 45 seconds. If the game tells you the queue is lengthy or you are tenth in queue then you expect to have time to pop out another grade eight potion. All the added steps make it a real time crunch sweat moment sometimes to not miss the queue.
- Being able to input a macro into quick synth section per item. The game will let me Trained Eye a recipe to get 100% HQ everytime but if I quick synth 99 items I might only get 10 of those as HQ. Let me either input quick synth set of actions or link a macro to each recipe (which still involves player effort to link them one by one, I admit) but think how much time it would save over having to individually click trained eye into Groundwork just to get a level 60 ingot to be guaranteed HQ…
- An accept all or turn in all quests button. If an NPC, a tribal quest giver for instance, has three quests available to me and I have already completed them give me the choice to skip all the dialogue and just accept all the quests. Or for something like a levequest let me select multiple at once and then accept all of them. Having to click through isn’t a big deal but all those clicks and seconds add up when you do them every single day.
- They made turning in collectables and – most – custom deliveries a bit better but let me turn all in, or again be able to select all the items that I want to turn in, instead of clicking through them one by one.
- Imagine if the game could realise you have a stack of 100 HQ potions and 10 NQ potions on you already and your inventory is full but you want to craft more and it would let you. Crafting will either succeed and go into one of the stacks and fail so not matter. Needing to have at least one inventory space is a real nuisance. My space is limited and I just want to craft this singular HQ tribal quest item; Let it go into the spot it will be coming out of! This goes for trading too; Do not force me to have five inventory spots to accept these items if I am giving enough away in the trade to keep suitable space to accept.
